47576 - Wigan Springs Branch CRDC - 26-12-2001

A view through the bodyside door of 47576 showing the level of stripping achived at Wigan. Staff would routinely remove engine componants such as Pistons, cylinder heads, conrods, push rods, cams and camshafts etc. The stripped out bogieless remains of 47576 stand atop a couple of flat wagons at Wigan CRDC.

The former D1771 and 47176 was never put through the RES refurbishment programme and was an early casualty being stored in November 1996 and officially put to store in April 1997.
